Caring for Your Specialty Board
Your Makin' Sawdust Specialty Board is not just a functional piece, but a work of art designed to be the centerpiece of your gatherings. To ensure that your board remains a cherished heirloom for years to come, we recommend the following care instructions.
Cleaning Your Board:
To clean your board, simply wash it with a little soap, water, and a scrub brush. After washing, dry the board with a towel and allow it to air dry, propping it up so that air can circulate on all sides. For a deeper clean and to disinfect your board, you can add a splash of vinegar to the soap and water mixture.
Important: Avoid soaking your board or putting it in the dishwasher, as this can cause damage to the wood.
Deodorizing
Your Board:
If you notice any lingering odors on your board, you can easily deodorize it using a simple, natural method. Sprinkle coarse salt over the entire surface of the board, then cut a lemon in half and use it as a sponge, scrubbing the salt into the wood. Once you've scrubbed the entire board, wipe it clean with a slightly damp dish cloth.
Refreshing Your Board:
To keep your board looking its best, we recommend refreshing it with a coat of mineral oil (food grade), walnut oil, or board butter once a month or as needed. Apply a light layer of oil and allow it to soak into the wood for a couple of minutes before wiping the board clean. Avoid using other vegetable oils, as they can go rancid over time.
